The Museum illustrates the history of resilience, in the continuous dialogue between man and nature, of Civita di Bagnoregio. A fundamental step to understand the reasons and problems of one of the most fascinating places in the world.
The various rooms tell the geological history of the area, the instability processes taking place on the slopes, the monitoring and stabilization works, the historical landslides.

The experience makes a journey through time possible: to discover the sea of ​​over 1 million years ago and the volcanoes of the Vulsino District, which with their products have covered a large part of the province of Viterbo. A journey in understanding what is constantly happening in almost all of Italy (over half a million landslides surveyed), the gateway to one of the most surprising places in Italy. Inside there are several interesting fossils able to excite adults and children.

The “Geological and Landslide Museum” of Civita di Bagnoregio is a place of synthesis and exhibition of the naturalistic merits of the area between Lake Bolsena and the Valle dei Fiumi Paglia and Tevere, and as a center of study and interaction for academics , professionals or simple enthusiasts of disciplines such as engineering, archeology, agronomy, and Earth sciences: applied geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, stratigraphic geology, volcanology, mineralogy, paleontology of molluscs and vertebrates.

The exhibition that can be found inside has been curated, with scrupulous professionalism, by the Geo Teverina Association. The same association is in charge of making possible the best experience of visiting the museum space.

The “Geological and Landslide Museum” represents the privileged means of safeguarding and enhancing the peculiarities of the Teverina area. The Museum promotes, coordinates and processes scientific research: it is not a mere place for collecting and displaying data, but an active and dynamic reference center for locals, tourists, students, professionals, academics and researchers, where everyone can enhance one’s aptitudes and abilities by learning, comparing and bringing new ideas.EO.
